Mr. Sunshine, What fait lies for it???

Mr. Sunshine is an ABC sitcom staring Friends alum Matthew Perry. The show is about manager of the sunshine center, Ben Donovan (Perry), and his everyday life. The show is tremendously funny and i sud guest you go take a look on hulu.com for any remaining episodes that may be on there.

Even tough the show has my approval, it is in somewhat danger of not being picked up in may for another season. Their ratings started out good, 10 million viewers or so at the premiere, but by the end of the shows run, it was getting an average of 5 million viewers a night. This was a factor of many things. First, since it's premiere, FOX's Show killer, American Idol, moved into the Wednesday at 9:30 neighborhood. In case people out there don't know this already, American Idol comes in, and kills every show in the ratings that are airing agents them. Idol moved in, and the ratings slowly started to fall. 7 million, than 7.5, than 6.2, and so on.

Second, Mr. Sunshine, after the first two episodes, lost it's Modern Family lead in audience, and was now airing at the end of a comedy block full or reruns. Reruns attract less viewers than a new episode would. While Modern Family new at 9 may bring in 13 million viewers, Mr. Sunshine at 9:30 would bring in 10 Million. Thats how a lead in works, people watch the first show, and the networks try to get people to stay tuned to the show after it. But with Modern reruns, its a different story than a ratings glory. While Modern Family rerun will score 6 Million viewers in a rerun at 9, Mr. Sunshine would average 5 Million viewers, thats how reruns work. With Idol competition and a Modern Family rerun as a lead in, is not good for ratings.

If i was ABC President of entertainment Paul Lee, i would renew Mr. Sunshine come renewal time for a second season of 9 episodes or so again. I think that Mr. Sunshine had a shitty shot this round of showings, with a modern family rerun lead in and a Idol competition, i think Mr. Sunshine should have one more time to shine!

Mr. Sunshine giving the finger!
